How shipping works

How shipping works

Lhoop ships exclusively with Australia Post prepaid flat-rate satchels. The price covers both the postage and the satchel, so a seller buys one, packs the item, addresses it, and lodges it. The buyer pays that exact rate at checkout and it comes back to the seller with their payout.

1

Buyer pays shipping at checkout

Every listing has a parcel size set by the seller. The buyer pays the flat Australia Post rate for that size - no weighing, no surprises.

2

Pack and address the parcel

Once you receive your order confirmation, pack the item in an Australia Post satchel in the size you set on the listing and write the buyer's delivery address on it. You can buy a single satchel over the counter at any Post Office; the Australia Post online shop mostly sells packs of 10.

3

Lodge it at the Post Office

Take the parcel to any Post Office within 3 business days and hand it over. Prepaid satchels already include the postage, so there is nothing more to pay at the counter. Keep the lodgement receipt.

4

Enter the tracking number and receipt

Back in your Orders tab, enter the Australia Post tracking number and attach a photo of the lodgement receipt. The order is marked as shipped and both buyer and seller can follow the parcel inside the app.

5

Payment releases on delivery

Funds are held in escrow until the buyer confirms receipt. If they do not, they release to the seller automatically. Your order page shows the exact date and counts down to it.

Packing tips

  • Wash and fold items before packing.
  • Use the smallest satchel the item fits in - prices are per size, not weight.
  • Wrap fragile items in bubble wrap or clothing.
  • Seal the satchel tightly and attach the label flat on the largest side.

If something goes wrong

If a parcel is lost, damaged, or arrives not as described, the buyer can open a dispute from the order page. Payment stays in escrow until the issue is resolved, and our support team steps in within two business days.

Custom shipping

For bulky or awkward items that don't fit a flat-rate satchel, sellers can choose Custom on a listing and set their own shipping price. Combined (bundle) shipping is live for standard flat-rate satchel listings: buyers who add more from the same seller see combined shipping and savings in their bag and at checkout. Custom-shipping listings are not eligible for bundles, because we can't combine a self-priced parcel with the standard Australia Post satchel rates. If you want a listing to bundle with the rest of your closet, pick one of the standard parcel sizes instead.

Australia PostAustralia only, and only Australia Post

Lhoop is an Australian marketplace. Every buyer and seller is here in Australia, so you will never be asked to post an order overseas and nothing you buy comes from outside the country.

Within Australia we ship with Australia Post only, with tracking included on every parcel. Australia Post has the widest store and red-box network in the country and a delivery record we trust, which is why we've standardised on it for every shipped order.

Coming soon: automatic labels with Australia Post

We're in the process of partnering with Australia Post so that labels are generated automatically the moment a sale is confirmed. Sellers will be able to drop the satchel into any Australia Post store or red street box without buying or printing anything at the counter. We'll let you know in-app once it's live.
